Why Government Portals Reject Files
📐 Wrong Photo Dimensions
Each country has different minimum pixel requirements. A photo that works for a US USCIS application may fail an IRCC Canada upload if it's not at least 420×540 px. Express Entry PR requires 715×1000 px.
📦 File Size Out of Range
Some portals (like IRCC Canada) enforce both a minimum AND maximum file size. A photo under 420 KB is rejected the same as one over 4 MB. Australia's INZ enforces 512 KB–3 MB.
🎨 Wrong Background Colour
UK portals (UKVI, HMPO) require a cream or light grey background — not white. US and Australia require white. Using the wrong background causes automatic rejection before human review.
🤖 AI-Enhanced Photos
Immigration NZ (2024 policy) and IRCC Canada explicitly ban AI-enhanced, retouched, or beauty-filtered photos. Biometric systems detect alterations before a human sees the application.
All specifications are compiled from official government sources. Requirements may change — always verify on your specific portal before submission.
